Thermal efficiency, quite simply

Above zero or sub-zero? The same insulated container can be used to transport chilled or frozen goods. It is the refrigeration system selected that makes the difference. Eutectics and cryogenics can both be used for above and or sub-zero temperature transport.

Eutectic refrigeration

How it works
The eutectic plate or pack is frozen before being placed in the container. It then maintains a constant temperature by transmitting latent energy from the melting of the eutectic mixture chosen. The length of time the temperature is maintained can be between 6 and more than 24 hours. The plate is then recharged by refreezing it.

Temperatures
The range consists of eight models of eutectic plates and six eutectic solutions. Different temperatures above and below zero can be maintained using solutions with different melting points and plates with several cooling capacities. OLIVO will advise you on your thermal balance and calculate the cooling capacity you require (in frigories) according to your products, your operating conditions and the container used.

Position
The eutectic plate or plates are placed in the top of the container. The containers inside walls are grooved to optimise natural convection, thereby ensuring a constant circulation of the cold air enveloping the contents.

Low temperature refrigeration
Because it sublimates at -78.5°C, dry ice is a powerful refrigerant mainly used to transport frozen goods. It comes in different forms: blocks, pellets, sticks or snow. Depending on your logistics specifications, OLIVO guides you to decide the right amount and the best way of using dry ice.

The Siber System℗ revolution - by OLIVO
When we developed the Siber System℗ our idea was to "tame" dry ice, which is so powerful, but can be a brutal form of refrigeration. This was in the 90s and eventually we managed to take the idea much further than originally envisaged. That is the Siber System℗ revolution: ahead of its time, technical good sense serving logistics quality and environmental protection.

The "cold service station"
All you have to do is connect the service station gun to the Siber System℗ tank in the container. The dry ice is produced in situ by releasing liquefied CO2. The exact dose of dry ice is calculated automatically at the time of shipment. The frozen goods are kept at a temperature of -25°C in order to limit the consumption of refrigerant. The OLIVO bonus: chilled goods can be kept at +2°C/+4°C without being frozen. The temperature is kept constant for 24 hours of transport. Siber System℗ is much more than a refrigeration system for OLIVO containers. It is also a specific work protocol, safe for operators, it allows temperature tracking and is user-friendly.

How does it work?

    The container's insulated walls effectively protect its contents against the heat outside. A eutectic or cryogenic refrigeration system inside the container makes it possible to maintain the temperature and at the same time sustain it for longer periods. Natural convection inside the container means there is no need for forced ventilation.

    The OLIVO system is a simple refrigeration system, using the phase change that releases cooling energy at a given temperature.

    • As for eutectic plates, the heat transfer takes place during the solid-liquid transformation of the eutectic solution. The temperature released is the melting temperature of the eutectic solution.
    • The temperature of dry ice is -78°C when it sublimates from the solid state to a gaseous state.
