Hygiene and care of OLIVO insulated containers : the team gives you some tips

Many of you ask us for information on the care to give to our insulated containers especially in terms of cleaning and maintenance. We will therefore give you the outline of our recommendations on these topics.

Tips: hygiene and care to bring to insulated containers

Hygiene of equipment used for the transport of perishable goods is often essential if it is not crucial. Thus, we will start with this more daily step.

OLIVO containers are made of rotomolded polyethylene. If this material gives our containers a high insulation and a great mechanical strength (shape memory), it remains nevertheless a form of plastic. Therefore, it is sensitive to corrosive products (e.g. products containing hydrochloric acid or hydroxide ammonium) and to very hot temperatures. As a consequence, OLIVO advises the use of a high-pressure cleaner in making sure that the temperature of the thrown water is not exceeding +60°C, and in making sure you are respecting the recommended distances (i.e. 50 to 60 cm, as for a car body). Also, OLIVO recommends the use of non-corrosive detergents, such as ORANET A of the brand ORAPI that we do use.

Although fortunately less common, maintenance of OLIVO insulated ROLL and BAC is part of their life cycle.

Maintenance of OLIVO insulated cabinets and chests goes from the replacement of the seal to a polyethylene welding following a violent shock via the replacement of a roller or the tightening up of a screw. The OLIVO teams have thus created a maintenance guide for the ROLL models and another for the BAC models. Both are listing the different components of the insulated containers and includes a memo of the technical points and the procedures to be followed (what to check, what to do, when to do it). If you are not already in possession of this guide, do not hesitate to ask the expert with whom you are in contact. In addition to these guides, OLIVO offers you customized spare parts catalogs depending on your container fleet.

As previously said, maintenance can be rather simple or require a particular technique. As a result, we offer our customers a maintenance training course on our Roche la Molière site with OLIVO maintenance experts. The goal is to review the most common damages you are facing with your insulated container fleet and teach your maintenance crew how to achieve sustainable maintenance.

If you do not have a dedicated maintenance team, OLIVO can also offer you the repair of your containers either on our site of Roche la Molière or directly at your place (option available only in France to date).

Finally, for end-of-life containers (12 years old in France, 20+ years old in some other countries), OLIVO offers its customers a recycling channel for insulated containers (option available only in France as of today).
